I thought it would be interesting to look back with a wink from Mimi to you, the reader! If you have already laughed and shed tears through the pages of A Joyful Embrace: A Memoir, thank you so much! You also know Mimi attended her high school prom. It is quite a story and many people made it happen.
It has almost been a year since Mimi's book was finally self-published on Amazon. I thought it would be interesting to let you know how things are going. Let's just say marketing a book is a quite a journey! I have had the pleasure of speaking before nine local Kingwood area organizations. And yes, I'm still learning! I have also been embraced in lively discussions at eight book clubs (six in 2023 and two in January, 2024). I have joyfully attended three book signings, and had Mimi's book placed on consignment, in Houston, at Blue Willow Bookshop. I have also written The Village Centers two checks, representing book royalties, in Mimi's memory.
October 17, 2023, was the 5th anniversary of Mimi leaving us. So hard for me to believe. We "celebrated," as we have been for the past several years, on this day, and her birthday, with McDonald's Happy Meals. It is a way to remember and talk about the incredible joy Mimi brought to our families. My family in Michigan and Cuero also text me photos of their smiling faces with their Happy Meals. Mimi would have loved that!
